Festivals: Seasonal fests fill the weekend with Halloween fun

Fall Color Festival and Scarecrow Trail: 7 a.m. to sunset daily through Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Morton Arboretum, 4100 Route 53, Lisle. Batavia United Way's BatFest 5K/10K Run/Walk: 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, on North River Street, Batavia. Batavia United Way's 5K walk/run and 10K run begins on River and State streets and travels north on the Fox River Trail. In keeping with the BatFest and Halloween themes, costumes are welcome. All race proceeds will benefit area nonprofits. Race-day registration will open at 7 a.m. Five-year age groups starting with 19 and younger and going up to 70 or older. 10K fee for age 19 and older is $40, $25 for 18 and younger; 5K fee is $30 or $20. Families are invited to decorate the trunk of their car and park it on the lot as one of the stops along the trick-or-treat route. Attendees will be voting and prizes will be awarded for the best car in three categories. Treats should be store-bought and manufactured in a nut-free factory.
