Hoffman Estates Park District Seeks Community Input

In 2019 the Hoffman Estates Park District (HE Parks) will revise its Comprehensive Master Plan (CMP) and is looking for input from residents. Surveys were mailed in late October to a random sample of Hoffman Estates residents. The data received will help the park district develop its CMP, which lays out a five-year plan that prioritizes future parks and facility improvements and determines which new programs and services to offer the community. The ultimate objective is to make Hoffman Estates a better place to live, work, play, and to make life fun.

Any resident who did not receive a survey in the mail will have the opportunity to complete the survey online, which will be available in the coming weeks on the park district's website, heparks.org.

The process started earlier this summer when the Park Board formed a Forward Planning Committee (FPC) and the staff formed a CMP project team. In addition to the surveys, the park district held focus group meetings with residents and community stakeholders. The team and the FPC will revise the mission and vision, conduct an environmental scan, and review industry trends and best practices.

With the survey results, the next step will be to conduct an analysis of the district's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, commonly called a SWOT analysis, and develop the strategic plan. All these steps culminate to create the CMP. Once the CMP is complete, it will be shared with the community at heparks.org by the fall of 2019. The current 2014-2019 CMP is available on the park district's website at heparks.org.
