Person struck, killed by Metra train in Downers Grove

An unidentified person was struck and killed by an eastbound Metra train around 1 p.m. Monday near Forest Avenue in Downers Grove, authorities said.

Police said their preliminary investigation indicates the person walked onto the tracks. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said their investigation is ongoing and will not release any further information pending identification of the victim.
