Dist. 121 board to hold hearing on borrowing $23 million
Warren Township High School District 121 will host a public hearing Tuesday night about the board's plan to borrow $23 million to pay for projects around the school district.
Multiple attempts were made to contact Superintendent John Ahlgrim, but he did not return calls for comment Monday.
School board member Barb Conway said the money would pay for life-safety projects including a new roof for the Almond Road junior-senior campus. Conway said issuing bonds was a good way to address physical issues in the district.
Conway said it was her understanding that district officials didn't need to go to the taxpayers via a referendum because the projects are all things that need to happen.
The public hearing on the $23 million bond issue will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Warren Township High School Almond Campus Gallery, at 34090 Almond Road, Gurnee.
