Wheeling Police Department and Wheeling Citizen's Patrol members joined the community in a FUNdraiser for American Cancer Society

On October 11th at the Wheeling McDonald's on Dundee Road the Wheeling Police Department and Wheeling Citizen's Patrol members joined the community in a FUNdraiser for American Cancer Society.

Citizen's Patrol member Patty Parrini danced around the restaurant in an apple pie costume encouraging community members to purchase a delicious apple pie.

Wheeling Police Chief James J. Dunne said "This was a nice opportunity to work with McDonald's and franchise owner David Bear to do something great for the community. Cancer has touched all of our lives, and tonight we raised almost $1,500 for the American Cancer Society. We are grateful to the police volunteers, McDonald's staff, and members of the public who turned out in high numbers to help support our efforts tonight."

"Events like tonight's Arresting Cancer FUNdraiser are at the core of why we got into public service in the first place. Tonight we really "served" the public-We had police personnel greeting customers at the doors, drive-thru windows, making ice cream cones, calling out orders and even cleaning the dining room. It was a lot of fun to be part of an event that really can make a difference in people's lives." said Crime Prevention Officer Scott Laverd.
