St. Charles Township woman killed in Kane County crash

A Kane County woman was killed Monday morning when the car she was driving crashed into a tree in St. Charles Township, authorities said.
Karen Crampton, 59, of St. Charles Township, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Kane County Sheriff's office. The crash occurred about 7:05 a.m. on Route 25 south of Hickory Lane.
An initial investigation indicates her Chevrolet Malibu was heading north on Route 25 when it left the road for an unknown reason and struck a tree, officials said. Crampton was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
