A party in St. Charles for Canine Companions
DogFest Illinois on Saturday at Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles celebrated the community of people and dogs that make it possible for Canine Companions to place assistance dogs with children, adults and veterans.
The 6th annual DogFest benefited Canine Companions for Independence. Graduate speakers and dog demonstrations were part of the free event.
The highly trained assistance dogs have jobs for their human companions, including opening doors, picking up dropped items, alerting to sounds and more.
