Endorsement: Daily Herald backs Weber over Zubert in Illinois House 64

Voters in the Illinois House District 64 will be sending a new legislator to Springfield.

Barbara Wheeler is one of a number of legislators leaving the capitol in frustration.

Voters in the district have two good options to pick from to represent them during the next term.

Republican Tom Weber, a small-business owner and member of the Lake County Board since 2012, and Trish Zubert, a Volo resident who has worked in finance the past 15 years, are seeking to represent the district, which straddles Lake and McHenry counties.

Representing a district that sits on the board with Wisconsin, both candidates are eager to look for ways to reduce property taxes and keep residents from fleeing across the border.

Both candidates would like to see the state fund education fully to ease property taxes. Weber's experience in government will allow him to hit the ground running when he gets to Springfield.

We endorse Weber.
