Endorsement: Daily Herald backs Curran over Fitzgerald in Illinois House District 41

When Christine Radogno quit the Senate after 20 years during the contentious 2017 budget negotiations,

Republican John Curran filled that spot and is seeking a 4-year term.

The former Woodridge trustee and DuPage County Board member is an attorney and former prosecutor. Facing him is Western Springs Village Clerk Bridget Fitzgerald.

It's clear Fitzgerald has more work to do learning the ropes, though she expresses concern about a graduated income tax that hasn't been spelled out. Curran has a strong command of the issues. He calls for a property tax freeze to halt the outflow of people both from his district and around the state. He advocates for term limits on all elected officials in state government as well as redistricting reform. We endorse Curran.
