Bartlett Fire District to host open house Oct. 13
The Bartlett Fire Protection District will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Station 1, 234 N. Oak Ave. in Bartlett.
The fire prevention week theme this year is "close before you doze," to inform the public of the importance of a closed bedroom door in buying time in the event of an overnight fire.
The district will have a live fire demonstration that shows the difference a closed bedroom door can make in holding back a fire's heat. In tests, an open-door room reached dangerous temperatures of over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit, while a closed-door room stayed under 100 degrees.
Other events include a vehicle extrication demonstration, guided station tours, hands-on display, Sparky the Fire Dog, food and more.
