Fire damages American Eagle.com offices in Des Plaines

A fire that broke out Saturday in the Des Plaines headquarters of a web design and development company appears to be accidental, fire officials said.

Firefighters were called at 10:53 a.m. to the structure fire in the four-story building that houses the offices of American Eagle.com at 2600 S. River Road, Chief Alan Wax said.

Crews activated a box alarm to request additional manpower and equipment. By 11:30 a.m., the fire was extinguished.

There were no injuries to firefighters, and the building was unoccoupied at the time of the blaze, Wax said.

The fire appeared to start in an area that housed some appliances, but investigators are probing the cause, Wax said. A section of one of the building floors was left with extensive fire damage, Wax said. He could not provide estimates of the cost of damage Saturday afternoon.
