St. Charles Fire Department hosts open house Oct. 13

The St. Charles Fire Department will host an open house on Saturday, Oct. 13, from noon to 3 p.m. at Fire Station 1 and the Municipal parking lot, 112 N. Riverside Ave.

Family activities include: live burn demonstration; vehicle extrication; scuba diving; rope rescue; safety house; and combat challenge for kids.

Fire engines, fire trucks, off-road vehicles, and rescue boats will all be on display along with various other tools and equipment.

"The open house is a fun time for families and a great way for children to learn about fire safety," said Fire Chief Joseph Schelstreet. "We highly encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to take a tour, visit with the different members of the department, and to ask any questions that you might have."
