Electric bikes on Palatine Trail would just add to problems
The article describing the opening of the Samcycle Electric Bikes shop in Palatine is fraught with problems. The owner suggests that proximity to the Palatine Trail is the reason they located in the Eurofresh center.
I hope they understand the use of the trail is restricted to nonmotorized vehicles and the speed limit is 15 mph.
It is already problematic with speed racers exceeding that limit and creating hazards for both walkers and bike riders.
I hope the park district will enforce the rules for public safety. The Palatine police may also have an interest in having motorized bikes operated on public streets by unlicensed drivers and people with limited ability. Thanks for listening.
