Naperville Riverwalk ideal setting for ghost stories

Naperville's Riverwalk will take on a spooky vibe this weekend as storytellers weave scary tales during "Ghost Stories in the Park ... In the Dark."

Sponsored by the park district, the annual event features performers from Summer Place Theatre telling stories Friday through Sunday, Oct. 5-7, at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion, 912 Sindt Court, near Centennial Beach. The scary stories - all with a dose of humor - also come with hot cider, ectoplasm punch and cookies.

Tickets are $7 at the door or may be purchased online before 3 p.m. Friday at www.napervilleparks.org.

Story times are set for 7 p.m. Friday; 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday; and 7 p.m. Sunday. The Friday and early Saturday performances are a little less scary and more appropriate for children.

Don Gingold, president of the Summer Place Theatre, will emcee and storytellers will include those from past years and several who participated in the 2018 Ghost Story-Telling Workshop.

The cast features Jenny Wachter, Joseph Tuma, Caylen Tuma, Lucy Murphy, Emma Gingold, Dave Santori, Maddie Rambissoon, Jill Spealman, Don Saccomonto, Dean Dranias and Shannon Burns.
