Hampshire-Henpeck HCE to make Christmas crafts for the needy Oct. 16

The Hampshire-Henpeck Unit of Home and Community Education will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Heartland Bank, Route 72 and Warner in Hampshire.

Join them this month to assemble Christmas crafts for the nursing homes in the area. This is always a fun event for all members, crafters and non-crafters alike, and the patients in the nursing homes enjoy the fruits of these labors. Unit dues for the state, $17, are due on Saturday, Dec. 1. Hostesses for this meeting are Peggy Gross and Barbara Janicak. All are invited to attend the meetings and special events.

The Kane County Association for Home and Community Education's HCE Week will be Oct. 7-13. An open house will be held on Oct. 10 at the county extension office, 535 S. Randall Road, St. Charles. On Wednesday, Oct. 24, the Kane County Association for Home and Community Education will host Fun Day/Fine Arts Competition/Community Outreach Activity/Luncheon Program at 10:30 a.m. at the Advent Christian Church, 905 N. Edgelawn Drive, Aurora. Reservations and $20 are due by Sunday, Oct. 14.

The Unit wishes to thank the guest speaker from the September meeting, Lisa Winchel, a resource development facility coordinator at the Elgin Community Crisis Center, for her excellent presentation on the services and needs of the center.
