Lower Fox River declared no-wake due to high water
A boating restriction has been issued for lower Fox River between dams in McHenry and Algonquin, officials said Tuesday.
The Fox Waterway Agency in Fox Lake issued the no-wake designation as of 2 p.m., officials said in a news release. It stems from high water levels due to heavy rains across the Fox River watershed late Monday and Tuesday.
Officials said no-wake means boats are not allowed to travel on the water at speeds above 5 mph, or fast enough to create a wake.
The Chain O' Lakes and Fox River from the Stratton Lock and Dam in McHenry to the Wisconsin border remains open to boating at this time, but a debris advisory remains in effect for the entire system.
