Head-on crash in Lindenhurst injures two drivers

Two people were injured Tuesday morning in a head-on crash that closed Sand Lake Road in Lindenhurst for about 45 minutes, police said.

The crash occurred about 8:50 a.m. when a 2004 Toyota driven by a 47-year-old Lindenhurst man crossed from westbound Sand Lake Road into oncoming traffic and collided with a 2014 Chevrolet driven by a 36-year-old Lindenhurst woman, Lindenhurst police said. Both drivers suffered what were considered nonlife-threatening injuries in the crash, according to police.

Authorities closed Sand Lake Road between Beck Road and Country Place for about 45 minutes while police investigated and the vehicles were removed.
