Work beginning Thursday on downtown Libertyville Metra station

Installation of construction fencing around the perimeter of the downtown Libertyville Metra station will begin Thursday, preventing public access to the building and displacing 20 permit parking spaces, village officials said.

All Metra ticketing and other matters will move to a temporary trailer just east of the building. The displaced parking will be moved to the north end of the American Legion lot, where signs will be posted designating them for commuter permit parking from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Metra station is set to undergo a $1.2 million renovation that will add restrooms and upgrade the design to what is considered more in keeping with Libertyville's historic character.
