Man accused of sexual battery in Antioch Walmart
A suspect in a case of sexual battery at the Antioch Walmart was arrested Sunday after a resident recognized his photo on social media, Antioch police said.
According to a news release, a 34-year-old woman was shopping in the Halloween section of the Walmart with her two children about 6:30 p.m. Saturday when Brandon J. Perez, 21, of the 40000 block of Route 83 in Antioch, made comments about her appearance. Later, he approached her from behind and grabbed her genitals over her clothing while making sexually suggestive comments, according to the news release. The woman slapped Perez's arm away and screamed while he walked away, police said.
The woman was able to take photos of Perez on her phone before he left the store, according to the release.
About 12 hours later, police received a tip about Perez's identity after his photo was posted on social media.
Perez was arrested about 1 p.m. Sunday at his home and was charged with one count of battery, the news release said.
He released on bond with an Oct. 15 court date.
