Friends of Lords Park Zoo to host annual gala Oct. 14
Join Friends of Lords Park Zoo for a fun-filled gala from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Elgin Artspace Lofts at 51 S. Spring St. in downtown Elgin.
Admission to the gala is $35 per person with all proceeds benefitting programs at Lords Park Zoo. Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event.
The event features a full array of hors d'oeuvres provided by Cuisine America; wine, beer, and soft drinks; silent auction; raffles; and a preview of summer 2019 activities at the zoo.
The Chamber Music on the Fox will perform during the event.
The Friends of Lords Park Zoo partners with the Elgin Historical Society, Elgin Public Museum, and Gail Borden Public Library in bringing special programs to the zoo.
Since re-opening in 2014, more than 10,000 visitors have enjoyed this community asset each summer.
In the five years since reopening, the farm zoo has had 53,601 visitors, with its 50,000th visitor on July 16.
The Friends of Lords Park Zoo is a 501(c)(3) organization, whose mission is to enrich the community's quality of life by fostering greater appreciation of the relationship between humans, animals and nature through educational experiences and the advancement of conservation.
Come enjoy live music, bid on silent auction items, buy 50/50 and raffle tickets and enjoy fellowship while supporting the zoo, which was started over a 110 years ago in Lords Park.
