Man wanted for Mississippi murder arrested in Lake County
A man wanted on a first-degree murder charge in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, was arrested Tuesday in Lake County, authorities said.
Deshaude Jones, 40, of Ocean Springs, was taken into custody by members of the Lake County sheriff's Warrants Team, the U.S. Marshals Service-Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Lake County sheriff's Gang Task Force and the Zion Police Department, authorities said in a news release Wednesday.
The U.S. Marshals Service informed task force members that Jones was staying at a Zion residence, officials said. After investigators surveilled the area, Jones, a documented gang member, was arrested without incident in a second-floor apartment, authorities said. Two firearms also were recovered, according to sheriff's police.
Jones remains held in Lake County jail on $10 million bail while awaiting an extradition hearing. He is due in court Oct. 2.
According to the Sun Herald newspaper in Gulfport, Mississippi, Jones is one of two people charged in a fatal shooting Sept. 15 outside an Ocean Springs bar.
