Church program to help women 'De-Stress'

Naperville's St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church will present a program to help women deal with stress called "Right Here ... Right Now ... De-Stress."

Presented by Linda Heying, the program will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in the Lighthouse room at the church, 1500 Brookdale Road.

Heying will discuss mindfulness, an evidence-based process that can help manage stress and explain how the stressed brain works and how to employ simple, mindfulness practices that help relieve stress. Perhaps the best part of all is these practices can be done anywhere and at most times.

Heying holds a doctorate in psychology that is oriented toward clinical practice and is a licensed marriage and family therapist with more than 30 years of experience. She also is a spiritual director in the contemplative model and wisdom lineage.

"De-Stress" is sponsored by Sophia's Circle of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, a ministry that offers three micro retreats yearly for women to explore topics related to spiritual reconnections of faith. Each program begins with wine and light refreshments.

Reservations for this program are $10 each, payable by check or in cash at the door.
