Help beautify Palatine to celebrate National Public Lands Day

The Palatine Park District's Service Committee is hosting an event from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Margreth Riemer Reservoir to celebrate the 25th anniversary of National Public Lands Day.

The theme of the event is "Restoration and Resilience." Community members are invited stop by the reservoir at Quentin Road and Wood Street to clean up debris and remove invasive plant species, or to the Hicks Road underpass to paint over graffiti clean bike trails.

Park district officials say the event is perfect for individuals, scout troops, community groups, business groups, service groups, school groups, families, and those needing to complete service hours. To make a reservation, contact Alissa DePue at adepue@palatineparks.org or visit volunteer.palatineparks.org and look for the Public Lands Day Service Opportunity.
