McCain was hero of war, not politics

For the last two years, the Democrats and the Never Trumpers have continually written letters of how despicable President Donald Trump is for what he says and his character. Never once have they acknowledged his accomplishments and there are many.

Now the latest comes from Ms. Kehoe. In addition to vilifying President Trump she says his treatment of Sen. McCain's death was shabby. Sen. McCain specifically stated he did not want President Trump at his funeral. President Trump chose not to comment on McCain's death in deference to the family. No matter what he did, the Democrats would criticize President Trump.

Sen. McCain was a war hero. However, he did not walk on water. His famous line was, "Let's work across the aisle." This was code for give the Democrats what they want. I know he was a hero, but he was also vindictive. He promised his fellow senators and his constituents that he would vote to overturn Obamacare. When it came time to vote, he voted no just to stick it to the president.

A few years ago, the people of Arizona tried to replace Sen. McCain because they were so unhappy with him. When McCain ran against Obama, he was vilified by the Democrats. Once he lost, he became their best Republican senator. After his loss, then he was a wonderful war hero again and should not be questioned.

Sen. McCain was a military hero and should be honored for his service, but he was not a Republican hero for his time in the Senate.
