APOEL parts ways with Baltazar, 7th coach to go in 3 years

NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) - Cypriot league champion APOEL has parted ways with coach Bruno Miguel Nunes Baltazar, the seventh coach the country's most successful team has had in the last three years.

APOEL says it was "mutually agreed" the 41-year-old Portuguese coach would leave. Assistant Giorgos Kostis will now take over coaching duties.

Baltazar's departure came a day after APOEL's 1-0 victory at Ermis, which saw the coach ejected for his involvement in a melee late in the game.

Baltazar was hired in March, but APOEL's failure to make the group stage of either the Champions League or Europa League after five years left many disappointed over the team's performance.
