Tuesday Morning Quarterback

Daily Herald Reports

Name: Shane O'Mara

School: Benet

Year: Senior

Best thing about being an offensive lineman: The other offensive linemen. Just a fun group of guys to be around. Every other Tuesday we're going out to eat or eating here, bringing stuff in. Just having a good time together.

Worst thing about being an offensive lineman: You're never really recognized, not the hero. But you're just going to have to deal with it, protect everyone.

Don't tell my coach that: Stuff that happens in the meeting rooms before they get up there. That's all I can say about that one.

If I could change one thing about football: O-line eligibility as receivers. I really always thought a little, nice slip screen to the left tackle would be a fun little play to run.

Team not on our schedule I wish we could play: Glenbard West, easy answer. Hometown school, that's where I would have gone if I didn't go to Benet, for a public school. They're always talking about how good they are. I've always wanted to play them so bad.

How I'll celebrate if I score a TD: Oh, my goodness. Definitely dunking the ball through the field goal posts. Probably the bowling pin celebration with my fellow O-linemen. That's got to be the way to go.

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat: I'm going to have to go with Snapchat on that one. I text friends through there, also there's a bunch of stuff you can figure out through there.

What I like best about my school: Just the staff, all the coaches. They get to know you real well, and plus the school's not as big as other public schools so in the classroom environment you get to know the teachers real well.

Something about me that would surprise you: Big fan of sushi, raw foods. My brother (Sean) got me into it and I've loved it ever since.

Other sports I play: Basketball is the only other sport I play right now. It's a really fun summer between basketball summer games and coming here and competing with football guys, too.

Favorite actor: I'm gonna have to go Will Ferrell on that one.

Favorite actress: Scarlett Johansson.

Favorite musician: I'm gonna have to go Twenty One Pilots.

The stat

It'll take 5 straight victories for Addison Trail, Glenbard North, Metea Valley and West Chicago to gain playoff consideration after 0-4 starts.

The tweet

"Still in shock... My boys snapped!! @willchev9 @bstare_5 @mgronowski7"

- Neuqua Valley offensive lineman Jake Bruner (@jakebruner88) after Brandt Stare's 77-yard kickoff return and Will Chevalier's 2-point conversion run with 24 seconds left rallied the Wildcats to a 36-35 win over Normal Community.
