Palatine man accused of stealing refrigerator

Palatine police say they nabbed a man accused of stealing a refrigerator from an unlocked apartment unit.

Bismark A. Lopez-Salgado, 22, of 1500 block of North Winslowe Drive in Palatine, was charged with two counts of felony burglary. Authorities said Lopez-Salgado swiped the fridge about 1 p.m. Thursday from an apartment in the complex where he lives. Police said they located Lopez-Salgado just outside the apartment building where he took the refrigerator.

Police said Friday that investigators found he also was responsible for an Aug. 8 burglary in the same apartment building in which he defeated a lock on the front door of the apartment and removed appliances from it.

Lopez-Salgado is to appear in Cook County court Oct. 5. He was being held in the county jail Friday on $5,000 bail.
