Aurora Lions dinner to aid food pantry

The Aurora Noon Lions Club will host an all-you-can-eat pizza and pasta dinner fundraiser to benefit Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

The community is invited to the second annual event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Luigi's Pizza and Fun Center, 732 Prairie St. in Aurora. Donations are $8 or $5 for children ages 4-12. A dollar of each donation will benefit the food pantry.

The menu will include pizza, pasta with meat sauce or meatless sauce, garden salad, jello with fruit and fruit punch.

Founded in 1922, the club meets at noon the first and third Mondays at Luigi's Pizza, 732 Prairie St. in Aurora.

Club President Rodrigo "Bobby" Menendez said, "Our club gives members an opportunity to advance worthy causes, serve with friends, and become leaders in the community. This club means a lot to our Lions, but it means so much more to the people we serve. The Lions' motto is 'We Serve,' and the Aurora Noon club has lived up to it."

The club supports vision and hearing-impaired initiatives while aiding community agencies such as the Salvation Army, Mutual Ground and Aurora Area Interfaith Food pantry with monetary donations and volunteers. Prospective members are invited to attend a luncheon.
