Gurnee police issue 49 citations, make one arrest during traffic campaign
Gurnee police issued 49 traffic citations and arrested one person suspected of driving under the influence during a special two-week enhanced traffic safety campaign, officials said.
Officers on the detail, which ran from Aug. 20 to Sept. 4, also made five drug arrests and issued citations for 30 seat belt violations, police said.
The special detail was funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 33 hours of grant-funded work was done in addition to officers conducting their regularly assigned patrol duties.
