Forget the lights, fix the railroad tracks
On Aug. 24, a Daily Herald article was headlined "Light ceiling brightens up Arlington Heights."
For $54,000 the new steel light poles should be able to handle the weight of the cable and bulbs on Vail and Campbell. What happens when we get wind gusts of 40+ mph?
If Arlington Heights really wanted to enhance the downtown area, it should redo the railroad tracks and street between Northwest High School and Campbell on Dunton.
You have to take your life in your hands to drive over the tracks and the drive through at Chase Bank. We try to avoid this intersection when we go through the downtown area.
