Hanover Township offers tutoring program

As a new school year begins, it is also the start of more advanced and tougher homework assignments. There is no shame in seeking additional help, and no reason to break the bank.

For $45 per semester, the Hanover Township Tutoring Services Program offers board certified teachers for students in grades two through 12, who can teach and assist students with their academics. Tutoring groups are developed based on age, subject matter, and learning needs that are identified by referring teachers.

"Last year, 236 students participated in the township's tutoring program," said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township supervisor. "I would encourage parents who have any concerns about their child's academic performance to contact the township and try our program."

The fall semester Tutoring Services Program begins Sept. 25. Parent Orientation is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Streamwood High School Sabre Center, 701 W. Schaumburg Road, Door #31, in Streamwood.

Children who attend regularly and bring their school materials/assignments to each session improve in academic performance and become more self-confident.
