Area Residents Encouraged to 'Explore Palatine' on Saturday, September 8

Explore Palatine is an upcoming event that encourages Palatine area residents to seek out and visit businesses and organizations located in the Village, as well as those who are members of the Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC).

The event is being held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, and is part of a greater initiative to encourage Palatine area residents to shop local, and to keep sales tax dollars within the Village of Palatine - whenever possible. This effort is being spearheaded by the PACC.

Nearly 60 businesses and organizations have registered to participate so far; individuals can view this growing list at explorepalatine.org to learn of sales, specials, and for more information about businesses and organizations participating in this one-day event.

Event participants are being asked to display yellow balloons outside of their locations on the day of event, and to share their support of Explore Palatine on social media pages by utilizing the following hashtag and social media tags; #ExplorePalatine @PalatineChamber.

Palatine businesses and organizations, and PACC members can register to participate for free through September 7 at explorepalatine.org. For PACC members who are located outside of Palatine but would like to participate, please contact PACC Executive Director Steve Gaus at 847-359-7200.

Sales tax dollars generated from Palatine-based businesses have a direct impact on the community; $48 of a $100 purchase stays in Palatine when individuals shop at an independent business; $14 of those $100 stay in Palatine when people shop at larger/regional Palatine-based businesses - but just $1 stays when individuals shop online.

"The purpose of this event is to encourage Palatine area residents to support local businesses and organizations, and to help everyone understand the positive impact that this effort can have on Palatine," said PACC Director Steve Gaus. "By putting this spotlight on our treasured businesses and organizations, we are all working together to strengthen the entire community."

Explore Palatine is an outgrowth of PACC's 'Think Local' campaign. Open to all Palatine-based businesses and PACC members, the campaign was created to educate residents and business owners about the importance of keeping sales tax dollars in the community.

The PACC would like to thank the Presenting Sponsor, Pan American Bank & Trust, and Partnering Sponsor, the Downtown Palatine Business Association. For more information, please visit palatinechamber.com.
