Central Unit District 301 to host open house Sept. 9

Central Unit School District 301 will host a Community Open House on Sunday, Sept. 9, to highlight Central High School's new additions and programs for the 2018-2019 school year.

The addition includes 12 classrooms, an over 60,000-square-foot field house housing a 200-meter indoor track and 4 practice courts, a renovated kitchen and cafeteria for students, a new veterinary science building, along with newly designed classrooms for INCubator (a business entrepreneur classroom) and MobileMakers (an IOS coding classroom).

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will occur for both the new classroom addition and field house at the main athletic entrance at 2:15 p.m. and a ribbon cutting for the new veterinary science building will occur at 2:30 p.m. Governor Bruce Rauner and other dignitaries have been invited to join the school district during these ribbon-cutting ceremonies.

Additionally, in conjunction with this ribbon-cutting ceremony, Elgin Community College's Center for Emergency Services will be hosting an open house from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 9. stop by to find out about the Driving simulator lab, 911 dispatch center lab, EMT-Basic Lab and to see the three-story burn tower.
