Family fun - and food contests - remain draws at Naperville's Last Fling
Crafts and critters proved an irresistible combo for kids checking out the family fun area of Naperville's Last Fling Saturday.
The festival is now underway for its 53rd year in downtown Naperville. As the Naperville Jaycees host four days of carnival rides, races, concerts and a parade to celebrate the end of summer, the club always challenges attendees to become competitive eaters, too.
There's no hot dog-eating contest, so no chance to become a future Joey Chestnut here. But there's a spaghetti-eating contest sponsored by Braconi's at 1 p.m. Sunday on the stage in the Riverview parking lot on Jackson Avenue, and an ice cream-eating contest sponsored by new downtown creamery, Kilwins, at 1 p.m. Monday in the same location.
