Elgin man accused of hitting boy in face
An Elgin man who prosecutors say struck a boy in the face was charged with aggravated battery to a child.
Raul Quinonez, 27, is accused of striking the boy and a dog Wednesday after the boy approached Quinonez with an injury he said the dog caused, according to Cook County assistant state's attorney Ryan DeGroot.
The boy, whose eye was bruised, swollen and red, informed the school nurse, who called Elgin police and the Department of Children and Family Services, DeGroot said.
Cook County Judge Marc Martin set a $25,000 I-bond and ordered Quinonez to have no unsupervised contact with children. With an I-bond a person is released without posting bail.
He next appears in court Sept. 10.
