Letter: Put campaign funds to better use

In the campaign for governor of the state of Illinois, we have a choice between two extremely wealth men who are vying for a position that, given the true center of power in this state, is largely a ceremonial position. They are projected to spend over $200-million dollars on this campaign. How many homeless persons could we support with shelter, meals and training for this amount? How many of our mentally ill could receive desperately needed medication? How many people could be helped? Of all the shameful things that occur in the state of Illinois, this one takes the cake. but no hungry person will be able to eat it.
