Saturday is Local Market Day in Schaumburg

Area residents will have an opportunity to shop for locally-grown food and crafted items at the Schaumburg Park District's Local Market Day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 25, at Volkening Heritage Farm, 201 S. Plum Grove Road in Schaumburg.

Available products will include fresh produce, honey and cheeses as well as handicrafts and other specialty goods.

"We offer a lot of products at our visitors' center and we wanted to have a day where we showcase those items and the people who make them," said Patty Kennedy, farm program coordinator. "It's going to be a great day for shopping at the farm."
