Alley Art on tap at Water Street Mall in Aurora

Alley Art Festival has become a summer staple in downtown Aurora, bringing dozens of local artists to the pedestrian-friendly Water Street Mall on the last Saturday in August.

From noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, the eighth annual Alley Art Festival brings more than 70 artists to sell their art, jewelry, pottery, handmade goods, and more.

Set along the recently renovated Water Street Mall, the grass-roots festival is an opportunity to meet and support local artists. It is known as a family-friendly afternoon that encourages an arts-forward community.

Live music kicks off at noon with The Aviators, then Anderlik, Otto, and Church at 1 p.m., Eastern Fire Belly Dance at 2 p.m., Town Band at 3 p.m., and Olivia Ports at 4 p.m.

"Alley Art Festival is going to launch a fun weekend of art and music on Water Street Mall in downtown Aurora. We'll have incredible artists - some seasoned and some showing for the first time - with their one-of-a-kind works.

"There will be food, ice cream, and fun activities for children. It's a true day of community," said Marissa Amoni, event coordinator for Aurora Downtown.

On Sunday, City of Lights Ukulele Festival, the brainchild of Alderman Mike Saville, holds its inaugural event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Water Street Mall.
