Teen charged over bomb scare at Mundelein High School
A male student is facing a felony charge alleging he used social media to cause a bomb scare at Mundelein High School, authorities said.
Mundelein Deputy Police Chief Don Hansen said the unidentified teenager is charged with disorderly conduct, making a threat to a school building or person. He has been released to his parents.
He said the student posted the threat about 7 p.m. Saturday on Instagram. It was seen immediately by friends, and turned over to police.
Hansen said the post was "immature and irresponsible," and immediately deemed not credible.
"It was dealt with quick," he added. "It was not a masked account. We knew immediately who it was and took care of it."
