Dist. 87 teaches parents about technology in schools

Glenbard High School District 87's Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee and GPS: Glenbard Parent Series in Spanish will present "The Technology and Training to Help Kids Thrive."

The workshop will be presented in Spanish by Susanna Melón and the District 87 technology staff at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Glenbard North, 990 N. Kuhn Road, Carol Stream.

When parents or guardians are knowledgeable about students' homework assignments, talk with their children about school and set high academic expectations, students earn better grades and have better school attendance, officials say.

Technology and the internet have created countless new opportunities for education, and also provides important opportunities for parents and guardians to be more involved in their children's education.

The seminar will provide participants with digital tools, skills and resources to use to become effective partners in students' education.
