Kites take to the sky in Elmhurst
You could excuse a few birds for getting their feathers ruffled Saturday around Elmhurst's Berens Park.
Because while our avian friends usually have the sky pretty much to themselves, on this day they had to share it with lots and lots of kites for three hours during the park district's annual Kite Fest.
It was a day when professional kite flyers could demonstrate a bunch of tricks and stunts and when kids (and their parents) could build kites or bring their own and see just how high they could go.
The free event has become a staple of the summer season in Elmhurst and it was again Saturday - even if it gave some birds something to squawk about.
