Oak Brook Park District sponsoring Mutt Miler

Oak Brook Park District's Mutt Miler will give participants a chance to spend some quality time with their dogs while helping raise money to support the district's Universal Playground Project.

The second annual event, which starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, in Central Park, 1500 Forest Gate Road, will feature a one-mile walk, demonstrations by the village's police dog unit and a variety of pet-friendly vendors, including Doo Care Dog Waste Management, Hinsdale Humane Society, Kriser's Natural Pet, Oak Brook Kennel Club, Paws With a Cause, PetPeople, and Smallcakes of Western Springs.

Registration is $10 and includes admission for one adult and one dog, with no charge for additional furry babies or human babies.

The registration fee includes one T-shirt and one bandanna. Those wishing to receive an event shirt are required to register.

While dogs are admitted free, owners will be asked to complete a waiver for each participating animal.

Recreation Supervisor Kim Catris said the district simplified registration this year to make the Mutt Miler more accessible for families.

The event is sponsored Hinsdale Animal Hospital.
