Elgin cancels National Night Out at Festival Park

National Night Out festivities at Festival Park in Elgin have been canceled due to inclement weather, officials said Tuesday afternoon.

The event was to start at 6 p.m. Officials will make rounds throughout the city's neighborhood to alert residents and participate in any remaining parties, police spokeswoman Kristie Hilton said.

This is the first time the annual event was canceled, she said.
