99 percenters doing OK

Please, let's stop harping about the disparity of wealth in the U.S. I don't care if the rich get richer. Why don't we just stop this righteous indignation and look at what us 99 percenters actually have, not what the few have. Compared to a few generations ago, we are the wealthy. We have what the super-rich once enjoyed exclusively. A car in the garage, air conditioning, refrigerators, air travel, and the list goes on.

Could we but talk to our great grand folks, they would scold us severely for our resentful attitude. To them, we live like the rich one-percenters they knew.

No resentment, no envy. What a relief to get rid of that burden!

We need to see candidates in district

Seeing Peter Roskam and Sean Casten debating recently was a great education on what issues and polices the two would pursue. One problem for the folks in the Sixth District is that the forum took place in Chicago. Few people in the district were able to watch.

We need the two candidates to come to the area that they will represent. We need Congressman Roskam to hold a town hall in this area or at the very least participate in a candidates' forum where people from the district can see him and his opponent and ask questions.

The issue of abortion and taxes were treated, but we need a greater explanation of the tax bill that Congressman Roskam helped write and shepherd through. What are the specific provisions that he feels will help us in this state and district? We need to know his commitment to the Paris Accord and his stand on carbon pricing and environmental regulations affecting our water and air. We need to know his stand on cost effectiveness affecting the chemical and fossil fuel industries and the health of his constituents.

We need to hear him and his opponent speak to the these and many more issues that will affect us in sixth Congressional district.

Omission from bias

Regarding Paul Saam's letter of July 30, he managed to list some news organizations he finds biased with at least one curious omission. Apparently Fox News is a shining beacon of truth.
