Let's be fair about immigration

On July 10, Cynthia Kehoe wrote about the mistreatment of the illegal immigrants. Which was odd since many of these kids are in air-conditioned tents on military bases getting three meals a day. Much better than where they came from. Another article from Michael Reagan asked why no tears are shed for American children in foster homes waiting for adoption.

I personally agree with Mr. Reagan. Where's the outcry for these children? Illegal immigration is a hot topic today. Unfortunately people are not looking at the full picture here. If an American citizen walked across the Mexican border it's illegal. So why shouldn't it be the same for non-Americans coming here?

Well, actually it is - 70,000 children came across the borders under Obama's term. Sent by their parents and escorted by "coyotes." Many slept on thin mattresses in cages. Where's the outcry of separation then?

The Daily Herald printed a three-day article on the effects of illegal immigration. It talked about the problems of people entering our county illegally and unchecked for diseases. It also talked about the many people of ethnic backgrounds coming into the U.S. illegally. Such as Russians, Polish, Syrians, Pakistanis, not just Hispanics. The article explained how each country has a percentage of people allowed into the U.S. Mexico is far above their allotment, which prevents people doing it legally from coming in.

A Filipino lady who was interviewed came to the U.S. legally and had been waiting 11 years to bring her husband and children to the states. Doesn't seem fair does it? We can't allow people to just enter our country illegally. It's not safe and extremely costly. Let's help our children and our homeless veterans find good homes. That's what we Americans need to do.
