Cougars blow out Beloit

The Kane County Cougars (54-54, 19-20) blew out the Beloit Snappers (55-52, 23-15), 10-2 on Thursday night at Pohlman Field in Wisconsin.

Yoel Yanqui belted his fourth homer of the year to break a scoreless tie in the fourth. The Cougars scored a single run in the fifth before breaking the game open in the sixth. The Cougars scored five times on five hits in the sixth frame. Jancarlos Cintron drove in a run with a single. Luis Lara plated two runs with a base knock. Eudy Ramos' two-run double gave the Cougars a 7-0 advantage.

The Snappers grabbed a run in the seventh on Austin Beck's RBI single. The Cougars added insurance in the ninth. Tim Susnara belted a two-run double. Then Ryan Grotjohn extended his hitting streak to 15 games in his final chance of the night with an RBI single to center field. Beloit received a two-run double from Ryan Gridley in the bottom of the ninth.

Lane Ratliff (3-1) collected his second straight quality start, tossing seven innings of one-run ball with eight hits on six strikeouts and one walk. Tyler Keele tossed the final two innings, scattering two hits and a run.

Bryce Conley (3-4) took the loss for the Snappers in his start, allowing just one run on one hit in four innings. The combination of Josh Reagan, Wandisson Charles, Jaimito Lebron & position player Jack Meggs allowed nine runs on nine hits over the final five innings.
