Watch for tree trimming along Fox River Trail, Elgin Prairie Path

Two utility tree-trimming projects will prompt intermittent closures of portions of the Fox River Trail and the Elgin Prairie Path.

Lewis Tree Service will be tree trimming and removing trees around the utility lines in the South Elgin area. Work will extend from National Street in Elgin on the north end to Kenyon Road on the south end. This work is expected to start Monday, Aug. 20, and will be completed by Sept. 10.

Additionally, Lewis Tree Service will be removing an ash tree that threatens the utility lines in South Elgin along the Fox River Trail.

This will occur in the short stretch between Robertson Road and River Road. This work is expected to start on Aug. 1, and will be completed by Aug. 15.

The forest preserve district asks trail users to be mindful of the project, heavy machinery being used, and of the possibility of intermittent trail closures during the time frames indicated.
