Carpentersville man who pushed cop, beat girlfriend gets 7 years
A Carpentersville man who pleaded guilty to striking his girlfriend and shoving a police officer earlier this year will be going to prison, officials said Tuesday.
Markey L. Price, 41, was sentenced Friday to 7 years on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, a felony, and domestic battery, a misdemeanor, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.
Price started punching and kicking the woman early on the morning of Jan. 21, the release said, and neighbor had called 9-1-1 after hearing a commotion coming from Price's apartment on the 1-99 bock of Oxford Road.
Price appeared to be intoxicated when he answered the door for police and, when the officer tried to remove him from the apartment, Price pushed the officer and tried to shut the door in the officer's face, then pushed the officer again, the release said.
The victim had contusions on her face, arms and legs, as well as a cut on her right eyebrow, a swollen right eye socket, a swollen upper lip, a bloody lower lip and blood on her shirt, according to prosecutors.
Price will receive credit for 180 days served in the Kane County jail.
