Aurora Scouts to serve up ice cream social Aug. 5 at Wesley UMC

Boy Scouts of Blackhawk Troop 11 at Aurora's Wesley United Methodist Church will hold its 39th annual ice cream social benefit Sunday, Aug. 5.

It will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church, 14 N. May St. in Aurora.

All-you-can-eat ice cream will be dished by Boy Scouts from Troop 11 and Cub Scout Pack 321.

Homemade pies, cakes and brownies will be available for sale. Coffee and lemonade will be served.

The public is invited. Tickets are $2.50 per person.

Sponsored by Wesley's United Methodist Men, the event will benefit church-sponsored Scout troops and Wesley's preschool.

Music will be provided by the Town Band, an Aurora-based septet with saxophones, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, euphonium and tuba. Soloists are featured.

Founded in 1916, Troop 11 is the second oldest Boy Scouts of America troop in Illinois and celebrated its centennial in June 2016.
