Adler Center announces 38th Annual Festival of the Arts

The David Adler Music and Arts Center will present the 38th Annual Festival of the Arts in Libertyville's Cook Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 4 and 5.

Located in historic downtown Libertyville, the two-day Festival of the Arts hosts up to 75 booths of fine and decorative art by local, regional, and nationally acclaimed artists and artisans.

"This year, we're excited to bring two days of musical entertainment to the Festival of the Arts," said Heather Williamson, Adler Center program director. "We'll also have great activities for kids in our art activity tent."

A concurrent youth art fair highlights the work of artists 18 and younger. Popular balloon-sculpting will be available each day from 1-3 p.m.

Purchase original fine art and enjoy live music by a lineup of regional musicians, including festival favorites like the Highland Park Pops, world-music by Girl Named Nino, and Latin/jazz singer Leanne Arraya, as well as singer/songwriter Matt Federman, L-Theory Dance Collective, and Blue Buddha Jazz Band, who are new to the festival lineup.

"Our [festival] is quaint, easy to get around, and lots of the artists are local," Adler member artist Tanya Leintz said. "It's fun, the art is more affordable. It's an easygoing, happy festival."

Admission is free, and street and garage parking is available. For more details, including an entertainment schedule and map, visit www.adlercenter.org/attend/festival.
